Montreal, Canada - The Moulin D’or (Golden Mill) is an award given by the city of La Salle to outstanding citizens who volunteer in the Community.
Seven Moulins D’ors are therefore attributed to individuals in the areas of sports, culture, leisure activities, community and environment.
Each month, a ceremony is given in honour of the Winner. At this occasion, the Mayor and City Councilors emphasize the generosity and exceptional value of the selected individual.
Martin Albino has been working tirelessly with both youths and seniors in the community for the past twelve years, teaching them not only to play the steelpan instrument, but also how the instrument is constructed, and at the same time making his students aware of the incredible history of the steel drum.
The city of La Salle was pleased to award the Moulin D’Or 2010 for Culture to Martin Albino for his perseverance, his commitment and his immense desire to transmit his passion, the music of the steeldrum, to the citizens of La Salle.
Martin Albino is the brother of renowned steelpan educator and adjudicator, Merle Albnio-de Coteau.
