Global - Steel pan
music lovers - particularly those of
Single Pan and Small Conventional
Bands - will be pleased to know that
respective DVD recordings from the 2011 National
Trinidad & Tobago Panorama Finals,
are now available. It is the
first time that the Panorama Finals of the
Single Pan and Small Conventional
Bands have been presented on DVD.
The production was handled by
Joanne Nunes of Global Digital
Entertainment; the company sought to
highlight the contribution of these
bands during the past Carnival
season. The DVDs each capture
the “live” performances of the
Single Pan and Small Conventional
Bands. The production is
presented on two separate discs of
approximately 90 minutes.
The Single Pan Bands DVD showcases
the sixteen finalists: San
Juan East Side Symphony, Trinidad &
Tobago Defence Force, Trinidad & Tobago
Fire Services Steel Orchestra, La
Horquetta Pan Groove, La Creole Pan
Groove, Marsicans, Uni Stars, All
Aces, Self Help Marines, Scrunters
Pan Groove, Pan Fanatics, Nu
Pioneers Pan Groove, United Sounds,
Hope Pan Groovers and Curepe
Polyphonics.
The other DVD features the eleven
finalists in the Small Conventional
Bands category: Arima Golden
Symphony, Merrytones, Tornadoes.
Southern Marines Steelband
Foundation, Golden hands, Codrington
Pan Family, Tamana Pioneers, St.
Margaret’s Superstars, Longdenville
Claytones, Panasonic Connection and
Old Tech Steel Orchestra.
Viewers would be captivated by the
creativity of the arrangers and the
energetic performances of the
panists as they go through their
paces before the panels of
adjudicators.
