Trinidad
& Tobago, W.I.
-
Pan Trinbago has officially notified its
membership - and the public - that due to a “fall in
sponsorship,” a decision has been
taken to shelve this year’s staging
of the Pan Down Memory Lane and Pan
in the 21st Century
competitions customarily held in May.
Pan Trinbago will
instead produce a show on June 18th 2011 at the Grand Stand,
Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of
Spain, with some of the past winners
of Pan Down Memory Lane and Pan in
the 21st Century
competitions. This will be a
show in tribute to the Fathers in
the “land of Pan” - Trinidad &
Tobago.
Sforzata
Steel Orchestra
Last year,
Sforzata Steel Orchestra from east
Trinidad
triumphed in Pan in the 21st
Century. Playing Jeannine
Remy’s arrangement of Jazmine
Sullivan’s Bust Your Windows,
Sforzata copped the title and money
purse of TT $100,000.00. The
very literal visual of the
windscreen of a car being “busted”
on stage at the end of the group’s
performance remains a vivid memory
for the show’s audience. The musical
battle fielded twelve of the
country’s most noted steel
orchestras who had made it to the
finals.
