Invaders’ Pan, Parang and Pork Signals Start of Christmas Celebrations

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - The second Sunday in November traditionally heralds the start of the Christmas celebrations by Caribbean Airlines Invaders Steel Orchestra through its annual Pan, Parang and Pork Dinner and Dance fundraiser. This year it takes place on Sunday 10 November at the Queen’s Park Cricket Club in Woodbrook, Trinidad from 5:30 p.m. to midnight.

Chef Dune Ali of Rib House has conjured up an exquisite Christmas menu which features all types of pork creations such as carvings from a slow-roasted pork leg, creole stew pork, spicy geera pork, pickled souse, char sue pork cutters, and the selections go on. This mouthwatering dinner is further complimented by an array of traditional Trini Christmas side dishes. There is also a wide selection of non-pork options.

A packed entertainment programme is planned with live performances from Soca Parang Queen and accomplished artiste Marcia Miranda, top soca artistes Kenny J and Ninja as well as the Central Bank Choir. The choir will be performing a repertoire of favourite Christmas carols as well as seasonal parang. Patrons will enjoy upbeat steelband entertainment from Invaders Youth Steel Orchestra and of course Caribbean Airlines Invaders Steel Orchestra. DJ Crosby promises to keep patrons dancing throughout the evening.

To further enhance the Pan, Parang and Pork experience, patrons will receive a welcome drink courtesy Dewar’s and one lucky patron will win a door prize of two tickets to any Caribbean Airlines U.S. destination courtesy Caribbean Airlines.

The management of Caribbean Airlines Invaders Steel Orchestra started Pan, Parang and Pork in 2002 in an effort to raise funds for the infrastructural development of the panyard which is now a National Heritage Site. To date the transfer of ownership between the holder of the lease, and the Trinidad and Tobago Government, is still unsettled.

Pork and Non-pork tickets are only TT$300.00 and can be purchased from Crosby’s Sounds, St. James; Speedy Office Supplies, Edward Street; Simon’s Musical Supplies, St. Vincent Street; Kam’s Music World, Long Circular Mall; Kanhai Raghubir Jewelry, Trincity Mall; Pan Trinbago’s South Office and Invaders’ Panyard, Woodbrook.
