Fourteen Junior Steel Orchestras for Antigua & Barbuda’s 2013 School Panorama

A When Steel Talks Exclusive

Antigua & Barbuda, W.I. - Fourteen steel orchestras - seven each from the country’s primary and secondary schools, respectively - take the stage on Wednesday 30 October for Antigua & Barbuda’s annual School Independence Panorama. The country marks its 32nd year of independence in 2013, and the national school panorama is just one of a myriad of activities spanning a two-week period from October 28–November 3.

The junior steel orchestras return once again to the Yasco Sport complex in St. John’s, the country’s capital, venue for the competition. Scheduled showtime is 7:00 p.m.

In the secondary schools category defending champions Saint Joseph’s Academy are determined to hold off their six challengers; in fact they are heading for their fourth championship in a row. Ottos Comprehensive School which rounded out last year’s complement of eight secondary school steel orchestras, is not participating this year.

Villa Primary School, the 2012 Primary school champs will compete in position three out of seven as they defend their title.
