At Prospect Heights High School

CASYM Beginners class on stage

Brooklyn, USA - There is nothing like the CASYM (Caribbean American Sports and Cultural Youth Movement, Inc.) annual holiday show to remind you that it’s getting close to Christmas. And the tradition continues. For years now the CASYM Christmas show show been the event that showcases the talent and progress of their music education program. Proud parents, excited youth as young as five making their debut performances, add a 6-foot four-plus ill-mannered ‘Cat in the Hat’ filling in for Santa - and you’re good to go.

CASYM

In his opening address to the audience CASYM’s President Travis Roberts reminded that the classes have been practicing, some since mid September - meeting twice a week. Indeed, for many of the night’s performers this was their very first performance ever. Smaller, younger and just as talented seemed to be the order of the day for CASYM’s tiny-mites and future stars.

Opening the show were CASYM’s ICIDIC Dancers followed by CASYM’s Adult Class, then Andefekt, CASYM’s Beginners, Cultural Dancer Ingrid McKenzie, CASYM’s Class 1, Khuent & Friends, CASYM Class 2, with CASYM’s stage side closing the event. The dedication of the performers and success of the CASYM’s educational programs were on full display.

There was no shortage of happy parents capturing the performances, making home videos on their cell phones and tablets. Yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s stars were all present and ready to carry on CASYM’s proud legacy with the performing arts and the Brooklyn community.

CASYM will start up another set of classes after the new year begins. Interested parties can contact CASYM at 1 (718) 735-6708.
