Fusion Steel to serve up Mini Concert at Double CD Launch

San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Fusion Steel from southern Trinidad will treat attendees to a Mini Concert and Double CD Launch at a two-hour event carded for Wednesday 29th October 2014 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Naparima Bowl in San Fernando.  Admission is TT $50.

The self-titled CDs featuring the musicianship of its talented members are aptly called ”Fusion” and “A Christmas Fusion.” The latter is a compilation of parang and soca parang hits.

Fusion Steel has been in existence for the past four years and led by Darren Sheppard, Manager and Musical Director. The band comprises young people, some of whom are pursuing music at the University of the West Indies and UTT (University of Trinidad & Tobago), and whose aspiration is to change the status quo in the steelband industry and the music world at large.

One of Fusion Steel’s main objectives is to bring a new creative approach to the steelpan industry. “The vocals help break the monotony of the instrumental music and as the name suggests, it is not just a fusion of vocals and steel, but a fusion of musical genres.”

With this in mind, the band has a wide-ranging repertoire of over 102 selections with genres ranging from Hip Hop, Rock, Soca, Reggae, Jazz, to its own compositions by Sheppard himself.

Fusion Steel is also known for several firsts - one being its first Carnival Midnight Mas Band—‘Mardi Gras’—which was accompanied by a fully powered music truck with vocals and steelpan, through the streets of San Fernando.

Fusion Steel prides itself on delivering a show at every performance, be it for ‘a small audience of 20 or of one of 20,000,’ and is always performance-ready.
