Documentary “Takopera Ô Katá” portrays theatrical work by Sérgio Boré

Bahia, Brasil - This December, Takopera Ô Katá debuts on YouTube (watch below), a documentary about the creation process of the musical theater show “Raízes da Fantasia”, a work by Sérgio Boré. The film consists of reports by the artists and their experiences in spaces of rehearsal and creation, behind the scenes of the theater and on stage, revealing the intriguing process of giving birth to a show, and re-signifies them to a contemporary language. Directed by Rosanna Viegas, the documentary is set with a soundtrack performed live, in presentations, by the composer and multi-percussionist Sérgio Boré, accompanied by his group: Tambores Urbanos.

The film addresses the backstage of the musical theater Raízes da Fantasia, which premiered in 2019.

The experience invites the audience to delve into the sound universe of Boré, an artist who travels through Brazilian musical history and who, over four decades, has been composing soundscapes, conducting research and telling stories that were the basis for the creation of the theatrical piece. The show is directed by Dani Neri and paintings by Thiago Botelho, as well as masks by Marcelo Chamoschine, make up its setting and costumes.

The documentary, filmed in 2019, the period before the COVID-19 pandemic, records the debut of a cultural product that brought together artists from music, theater and plastic arts, to honor Brazilian roots and unite rhythms, colors, dances and poetry in a project that aims to promote the precious work of musician Sérgio Boré.
