WILSON'S Work In Full Bloom
RECORD RACK
BP Renegades mesmerise with their versatility It is often said that Barbadians run from rain at the
slightest opportunity, but the patrons at the opening night
of the sixth Barbados Pan Festival dispelled that myth last
weekend. The Trinidadian steel orchestra BP Renegades held
the audience at the Sunbury Plantation House so firmly in
their grasp that instead of running, the patrons stayed
glued to their seats and merely put up umbrellas when a
heavy shower of rain fell during their first set.
Steel Pan
Extravaganza gets two thumbs up...
New York's Sesame Flyers
International, Inc. held a concert billed as a
Steelpan Extravaganza
on Saturday June 5, 2004. If you were not there, you missed a good one!
The show featured the composing, arranging and playing skills of young
talents such as Freddy Harris and Andy Akiho, among others.
Remember these names - you're going to be hearing them a lot the in the
near future. Indeed, this event showcased the next generation
of pan composers, players and arrangers. And the future of pan is in good
hands.

Steel pan extravaganza gets Celebration
rolling
ST. JOHN - A flurry of flashing drumsticks and gyrating hips filled the streets of Cruz Bay on Saturday as hundreds of musicians pounded out song after song on steel pans. It's time for St. John July 4th Celebration. The St. John Festival and Cultural Organization's presentation of Pan-O-Rama 2004 brought 11 steel bands from St. John and St. Thomas together next to the ferry terminal for an afternoon of musical enjoyment.
