Cool Steel Watch

First up on this Cool Steel edition is one of the steelpan masters with a proven track record as an arranger, solo artiste, performer and composer. Len "Boogsie" Sharpe from Trinidad and Tobago opens up this week's edition of Cool Steel. In the spotlight, his CD album Fresh Air - and the track of choice for this program is one of Sharpe's own compositions "What's Up?"

The selection from the last edition of Cool Steel which got the most votes, submitted by email to panradio@panonthenet.com, was "Billie Jean" by Phase II Pan Groove from Trinidad & Tobago (T&T). Voted in at #2 and #3 respectively, were Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra also from T&T - with "Craw Fish " and Germany's now defunct band Panorama featuring Jürgen Lesker on pan with "Twentyfour hours."
