Merrytones Steel Orchestra |
Defending champions Merrytones Steel
Orchestra, topped all challengers with a score of 277 in
today's Trinidad and Tobago 2007 semi-final panorama
music competition. Fifteen bands competed in this
category. Merrytones, playing Eunice Peter's
Can't Get Enough (which was composed by Trinidadian
Don Clarke who lives in Atlanta, Georgia), is one of eight bands who are
continuing on to
the finals being held on Wednesday February
14th at the south-western end of the Queen's Park
Savannah, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.
Merrytones will be going for their fourth
consecutive title. If they are successful, it would be
the beaver trick for the band and hat trick for arranger Seion
Gomez; Gomez is based in the USA where he has been pursuing
his Masters at DeKalb's Northern Illinois University. The
seven other bands moving on to
the finals are Pan Elders, Tamana
Pioneers, Siparia Deltones, Crescendoes Musical, Tunapuna
All Stars, Southern Marines Steelband Foundation and
Casablanca.
