Northern Region
Lord Kitchener Stands,
South Quay, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad - is the venue for this year’s
Panorama Prelims for
Small &
Medium
Conventional Steel Orchestras in the
Northern Region.
Come 24 January 2010, sixteen (16) Small
Bands and six (6) Medium bands will be
judged on Arrangement (40), General
Performance (40), Tone (10) and Rhythm (10)
for a total of 100 points. Competition
starts at 1:00 p.m.
Draw for playing positions will take place
at Pan Trinbago’s Northern Region Office, Jerningham
Avenue, Belmont, on Monday 18 January at
5:00 p.m.

South/Central Region
San City Steel Symphony
will be the first band on stage when Pan
Trinbago South/Central Region stages its
National Preliminaries (Conventional) at
Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Friday 22
January 2010, from 8:00 pm.
Nineteen (19) bands comprising Small and
Medium Conventional Steel Orchestras will
face the adjudication panel in an event that
is being billed “Friday Nite Pan Sizzle.”
In the Small Band category (no more than 50
players in the preliminary stage but with 60
players in the semi-final and final stages)

fourteen (14) bands will perform calypsoes
ranging from Maestro’s (Cecil Hume) “Fiery”
to Mark Loquan/Ken ‘Professor’ Philmore/Destra’s
“Surrender”
to “Smooth Sailing” by Winston
Scarborough aka De Original DeFosto Himself.
Five (5) Medium Bands (more than seventy
(70) players in the preliminary round but
with ninety (90) players maximum in the
semi-final and final rounds) will also
compete on the said night.

Tobago
Preliminaries for Tobago
Conventional Bands take place on Monday 25
January 2010.
Nine (9) Steel Orchestras in all categories
-
Small, Medium, Large
- will be showcased during that January 25
run-off, with the small and medium
orchestras actually vying for coveted places in the National Panorama Semi
Finals aka “Savannah Party” at the Queen’s
Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, on
Sunday 31 January 2010. The orchestras
participating in the
large category
automatically go through to that phase of
competition, but will still receive advisory
comments from the adjudicators based on
their panyard presentations.
Bands will face separate panels of
adjudicators at their respective pan yards
beginning with T&TEC New East Side Dimension
in Belle Garden, Tobago, at 7:00 p.m.
