“Bodyguard”

Roger Mohammed aka “Bodyguard” was born on February 19^th 1968. He began his singing career as a balladeer, having participated in Trinidad & Tobago’s Teen Talent Show, the National Song Festival and Scouting for Talent during the 80’s and 90’s. He still sings ballads occasionally with the Police Band at various events.

However, it was in 1995 while employed at National Petroleum that he composed his first Calypso entitled Robbie Vex and placed second in the company’s in-house competition. He enlisted in the Police Service in 1997 and became the first Police Officer to score a hat-trick of wins in the Police Calypso Competition in the years 2001, 2002 and 2003. He was a Calypso Monarch finalist in 2005, National Humorous Calypso Monarch and TUCO North Zone Monarch in 2006, and Young King 2007.

This calypso - Land for Pan - was written by Nelville “Bunny B” Brown and is one of the premier Pan songs for 2011, presently engaging the attention of pan arrangers across Trinidad and Tobago.
