LYRICS

Intro

Pa pa dey oh, pa pa doo dey oh
Pa pa dey oh, pa pa doo dey oh
Pa pa doo dey aye, pa pa doo dey aye
Pa pa dey oh, pa pa doo da

Verse 1

Is a long, long time
Ah looking for a Pan man
To hold meh hand
And teach me the tenor Pan
Is a long, long time
Ah looking for a Pan man
To understand
The true meaning of the Pan
Well yuh know it took a while
But finally ah join the line
Now I’m happy to say
The best decision I made
Was to move meh hand
And learn to play,
Sweet Pan night and day

Chorus

Honey when yuh miss me
Ah in the panyard playing
Whole day, whole night
When the fever grip me
Know is practice we practicing
With all we might
Whether sunshine or rain,
Playing Pan is no game
Is not like before,
Man doh cuss and fight anymore, no more
So leh meh play meh Pan,
I ain’t looking for no man
Pan in meh head every day
The feeling ah de music
put a fever down inside meh
In the yard, yuh have to understand,
Is like a burning heat
The rhythm in de music
Put a shiver down inside meh
Pan woman, pan woman, pan woman
Pa pa doo pa do dye, pa pa doo pa do dye,
pa pa doo pa do dye, pa pa doo paw

Verse 2

Is a long, long time,
Something in meh head, man
Ah melodic sound,
Created on this oil drum
Is a long, long time,
Something in meh head, man
Now I understand
What Pan had to overcome
Women on the bass fuh so,
In schools everywhere -
The world just cannot ignore,
The tourist want to explore
The sound of the Pan,
How they tune the Pan,
To get the right sound

Chorus

Honey when yuh miss me
Ah in the panyard playing
Whole day, whole night
When the fever grip me
Know is practice we practicing
With all we might
Players touring the world,
Trini music unfold everyday
To places unheard before - I say
Ah want to play meh Pan,
Yuh know I ain’t looking for no man
Pan in meh head night and day
The feeling ah de music
Put a fever down inside meh
In the yard,
Honey please try and understand,
Is like a blazing heat
The rhythm in de music
Put a shiver down inside meh
Pan woman, pan woman, pan woman
Pa pa doo pa do dye, pa pa doo pa do dye,
pa pa doo pa do dye, pa pa doo paw

Verse 3

Since that time,
Ah have mey own Pan, man
Ah playing meh Pan
Like a real professional
Since that time, yes
Ah showing off, man
Sticks in mey hand
To ramajay round the yard
But yuh know ah had to rent a Pan
To keep up with the rest ah the band
Now I’m happy to know
Ah might be picked for the show
’Cause ah ready to play,
Move outta mey way, Panorama day

Chorus

Honey when yuh miss me
Ah in the panyard playing
Whole day, whole night
When the rhythm hit me
Know is practice we practicing
With all we might
Whether sunshine or rain,
Playing Pan is no game
It’s opened the door, to youths
Dey doh want to lime no more
So leh meh play meh Pan,
I’m not here to find a man
Ah just want to play and play and play
The feeling ah de music
Put a fever down inside meh
In the yard
Honey, yuh have to understand,
Is like a soaring heat
The rhythm in de music
Put a shiver down inside meh
(Pan woman)
Dey call me the Pan woman
De Pan woman,
Dey call me the Pan woman
They call me the Pan woman
So man if yuh have a band
And yuh want a Pan woman
Call meh leh meh take a jam
Ah going to jam, and jam,
And jam and jam, Oye

Pan woman, Pan woman,
Pan woman, Pan woman

  Visit When Steel Talks

Born on February 23, Carol is the first of 15 brothers and sisters.

Carol grew up in Garnet Lane Belmont, with her beloved, now deceased grandparents. She attended Belmont girl’s RC and Providence Girls School where she sang in the Choir and took part in the Music Festival.

Carol’s singing career started right there in Garnet Lane with music teacher Mrs. Simons who was the aunt of calypsonian Lord Relator.  It was there she and the group had the pleasure of performing for the late Dr. Eric Williams, the first Prime Minster of Trinidad and Tobago.

After graduating Providence she joined her husband Carl Jacobs and life took on an exciting and memorable journey.  From the group Shandileer formed by Carl and Robin Imamshah in 1979, a musical adventure began which won them the Best Playing Band of The Year title with Peter Minshall’s Mas production, Santimanitay.

By the way Carol met Carl when she was 16!  Hmmm!  Carl and Carol got married and the unending journey continued.  Pressure! Three children were born, Carla, Caryl and Cyle her son.  They were the second singing couple in Trinidad and Tobago, Ed and Angela Johnson being the first.

Many albums and singles were released by Carl and Carol; Luv Up, Dancing, We Wanna Live, Savage, Bend Down and Rock, Pressure, From Now on, Limbo, Jump Jump, Sweet Man, No Body Can Love Me Like You Do and many, many more.

Carol and Carl’s musical experience came from the school of Hard Knocks. They did extensive background vocals for most of T&T and the Caribbean’s best Calypso and Soca Artiste including The Lord Kitchener, Sparrow, and The Mighty Duke, Calypso Rose, Singing Francine, Mello (Darling Ah Fell Ta Disco), Arrow, Explainer and many others.

Carol and Carl migrated to the United States to explore unknown territory and spread the scintillating music of T&T... “Sweet, Sweet T&T, Oh How Ah Luv Up Meh Country,” sung by Carl Jacobs and David Rudder with background music by Carla, Caryl and yours truly.

After spending some 12-15 years doing the club and corporate circuit in Miami, Carol felt something was missing. From “Missing Home Mamma, Missing Home, Ah Wanna Come Back to the Land Ah Love” (sung by Carl Jacobs) which she did in 2005, Carol has continued to write and record her music - most of it produced by her husband Carlie, Dave Ramoutar and now Raf Robertson, who is the producer for Pan Woman.

Carlie and Carol promise to continue sharing their music, there is so much more to come. Look Out!  Blessing!
