LYRICS

Verse 1

When Skinners Park say so, is so
When Skinners Park say no, is no
We hope you learn yuh lesson well, yes at the fiesta,
We supported you for all these years, remember (dey say)
Yuh cyah be a PP man in we party
(Is my PP), no Fosto, no Fosto
Yuh cyah be a PP man boy yuh crazy
(Is my PP), no Fosto, no Fosto
We judging since ‘62,
Boy whey wrong with you
We decide de fate yes, of calypso
Who in, who out, when yuh reach in South
Yuh better doh doubt.

Chorus

Is we who holds de key
For calypso in T&T
Fosto …..doh be a chupidy
Is we who does decide
If you should win de monarchy
Fosto, doh be a chupidy
But all yuh know I love meh/dis country
Through meh music you could see
But PNM is we… from now till eternity
Dey say Pan and calypso, is de PNM’s legacy
Fosto, doh be a chupidy
Dey keep telling me
Fosto, doh be a chupidy.

Verse 2

Yuh say yuh cyah vote for dat, yuh mad
So de PNM warriors get on bad
All yuh know PNM didn’t send me Germany,
But de PP went England with Machel and Rickky (where were you?)
Yuh cyah be a PP man in we party
(Is my PP), no Fosto, no Fosto
Yuh cyah be a PP man boy yuh crazy
(Is my PP), no Fosto, no Fosto
Panther call you a PNM dude,
Dat went back Jack to eat ah food
We know yuh have to survive like everybody -
But! Calypso is we Fosto
Doh leh nobody fool yuh
Doh leh nobody fool yuh...

Chorus

Verse 3

Yuh sacrifice for dis country, we know
You paid your dues a very long time ago
But whey yuh see it come to we politics
Dey say:  We doh want no PP man in we business...   (hear dem)
Yuh cyah be a PP man in we party
(Is my PP), no Fosto, no Fosto
Yuh cyah be a PP man, boy yuh crazy
(Is my PP), no Fosto, no Fosto
Have they done anything for you
Boy is you who cause dem to win
We hear up to dis day you eh get nothing
All de pong yuh pong Manning,
He make sure dey put you in,
Just to see who win...
(Manning - true?)

Chorus

Winston Scarborough is considered by many to be one of the all-time great composers of steelband ‘panorama tunes.’

A performer artiste himself, 2012 will mark the 34th year that Trinidad & Tobago’s Winston Scarborough (The Original DeFosto Himself - as he loves to be called) has been singing calypsos.  For him it was an uphill struggle to be recognized by the fraternity and public at large.

Abandoned by both his parents at the young age of 6 months, Scarborough was sent to the Tacarigua Orphanage in east Trinidad where he remained until age 17.  The experience in the orphanage would place an indelible stamp on him.

One of the most important aspects of DeFosto’s work as a calypsonian is the tributes he has paid in song to many of Trinidad & Tobago’s cultural icons; the late Lord Kitchener (calypsonian Aldwyn Roberts) would be one such with whom people are most familiar.

For 2010 The Original DeFosto Himself dropped two big musical ‘bombshells’ for Panorama: “Smooth Sailing” and “Pan on Fire.”  In 2011 he came back strong once more with “A Raging Storm;” “In She Rainorama;” “Desperadoes Coming Down” and “More Money for Pan.”

For the 2012 panorama season, DeFosto  has already released An Intervention of Hope (Lives Have Been Saved).  Yet another ‘witty ditty’ coming from the talented artist is the track featured here, San Fernando Has Spoken.
