LYRICS

Verse 1

This is the time of the year
when the steel band
Getting ready for the big showdown
This the time of the year to hear real Pan
Every band’s hoping to win the crown
There’s music everywhere
in the atmosphere
It’s Panorama night
A little Ellington, Bradley and Beethoven
It’s a wonderful night

Chorus

You can hear the basses
grumbling, coming down the street
Listen the tenors answering,
shuffling the beat
It’s a celebration, the pride of the nation
It’s comparable to a bird in flight
You know I ain’t lying, there is no denying
Tonight is a wonderful night

Verse 2

This is the time of the year when arrangers
Find themselves deep in meditation
This is the time of the year
when the strangers
Gravitate to the land of the Pan
This is carnival, this is bacchanal
It’s a Panman’s delight
It’s so magical, it’s fantastical
It’s a wonderful night

Chorus   (repeat)
