“K.Y.L.E. ”
K.Y.L.E. - Knowing Yourself Liberates Everything - Kyle Noel under the pseudonym K.Y.L.E., is in the process of completing his album, “Funky High.” K.Y.L.E. is introducing a new platform for steelpan solo players and listeners to enjoy and experience in this album.
Using his four-sticks technique, he has been able to win the attention of individuals who don’t like to listen to steelpan music with his smooth, passionate and mesmerizing touch.
Scouting for Talent, an annual competition held in the twin-island of Trinidad and Tobago, was designed primarily for ‘professional amateurs’ possessing any form of artistic talent. The 2000 series was won by then-fifteen-year-old Kyle Noel- the youngest person to have ever won since its inception many years ago.
Kyle, who hails from the town of Siparia, has already made his debut in the entertainment arena. He accompanied the Central Bank Choir of Barbados at the Barbados Central Bank Auditorium under the auspices of the country’s Governor General. He played alongside panists like the great Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharp, Earl Rodney and Jason Baptiste and performed with most of the well-known steel orchestras in Trinidad. He also conducted workshops on Pan Techniques for primary and secondary schools.
As vice-captain, Kyle led the Junior Siparia Petrotrin Deltones Steel Orchestra to victory at the Caribbean Junior Pan Festival held in Antigua (2004). He conducted a Pan-Playing Technique workshop at Naparima Girls College and St. Madeline Secondary sponsored by BPTT (BP Trinidad and Tobago).
He has also functioned as the musical director for Iere Theatre’s production of Eric: The Musical, A Brighter Sun and Sundar Popo, the musical. He’s also the founder of two music and art development companies; Soul Faculty productions and Black Carpet Cultural Movement. Currently Kyle is employed at Trinidad & Tobago’s Ministry of Education as a music instructor. There he’s able to share his knowledge and talent with the primary schools in the south region.
His offering for the 2017 Panorama season, Hold Dat Panstick featured here, is vocalized by Sheldon “Mocha” Martin.
