sung by Roger George
composed by Bruce Greenidge
pan by Mikhail Salcedo
produced/arranged by Roger Israel
Verse 1
Gone too
soon
That’s the way that we all feel for
brother
Ken Philmore
We will never understand
Maybe there’s a greater plan
Though we wanted more
Though he’s gone
We all know that he his left a
special legacy
That we will keep in our hearts
It will always remain a part, of you
and me
His vision take our steel pan music
to the world
But to achieve we must first begin
at home
Teach pan in the schools
Make it part of the curriculum
To ensure that pan, will forever
live on
Chorus
Ken
“Professor” panist extraordinaire
Though he’s gone he will be forever
near
He’s an icon and a true pan hero
No surprise that everyone loves him
so
He loved to hug love to kiss a true
lover
With a golden smile that shines from
his heart

Verse 2
Since he
small
He was sure that he was born to play
steel pan
And so it became his dream
At the age of nine he got his first
tenor pan
In ‘73 he began playing with
Hatters Steel Orchestra
Thanks to Captain
Steve Achaiba
Who notice the potential in this
young player
He went on to become a master
arranger
For bands at home also bands in
foreign lands
He performed Africa, Europe, America
Taking steel pan to,
Countries both near and far
Chorus

Verse 3
He was one
Of the greatest pannist
That the world will ever know
Played at Carnegie Hall and Jazz
central
Madison Square Garden, Broadway and
Apollo
He composed
many special melodies
That touched all very soul
Sifting through the notes Philmore’s
dream
Rhythm in the groove
Pan Ecstasy, calypso
Pan
by Storm was Philmore’s and Phillips’ creation
Fonclaire that year was the
people’s champion
He performed with renowned singers
and musicians
Who acknowledged him
A master of the steel pan
Chorus
