Brooklyn, New York, USA - For 2025 Metro Steel Orchestra worked with arranger Vanessa Headley-Brewster in a New York-Panorama history-making move in a first for the annual event. She is the first woman arranging for the New York steelband music competition.
The arrangement was indeed unlike any other of the New York arrangements/arrangers. Touching on vibrant interlocking themes, the melody is never lost at any point in the song. Vibrant story-telling about a dance builds to a climatic pitch that resolves with travels through the Caribbean, East Indian and Spanish music influences.
The band’s tune of choice was Yung Bredda’s The Greatest Bend Over.
Basement Recordings captured Metro Steel Orchestra on Thursday August 28 as they prepared in their Brooklyn, New York panyard before going to Panorama on Saturday August 30, 2025.
