Castries, Saint Lucia, W.I. - There are five steel orchestras vying for the country’s 2026 National Panorama championship on Sunday July 12 in the annual steelband music competition, part of the carnival events calendar.
Defending its title from position four is Pantime Steel Orchestra. This year, the entry of new band Dennery Steel Orchestra ups the number of competitors from four last year to five this time around.
The three other steel orchestras taking part are Babonneau Steel Orchestra, Laborie Steel Pan and Pantastic Muzik Steel Orchestra.
When Steel Talks extends appreciation to Krystal Nestor, arranger, and Allidonna George for providing the data on participating bands, appearance order, tunes and arrangers.
Four steelpan soloists will also be in the spotlight, and last year’s Nationalist Soloist winner Jesse Nurse returns to the lineup on Sunday in defense of his 2025 title; he plays second. Taking the stage first is fellow competitor Omar Gabriel. Chazzi Desrivieres and Kannis Desrivieres compete in third and fourth place, respectively.
The SAB, Vigie, in the country’s capital, Castries, hosts the event which is scheduled to begin 8:00 p.m. AST (Atlantic Standard Time).
