No stranger to the Big Stage of competition and performance, Joanne Foster is a past winner of the National Song Festival in Trinidad & Tobago. She made her debut into the Calypso arena in 1995 singing at the Spectacular Forum in Port of Spain. Since her initial splash into the Kaiso Pool, Joanne has made it to the Skinner Park Calypso Semi-Finals on six occasions.

  Visit When Steel Talks

A dynamic performer with powerful vocal ability, Joanne has sung on numerous calypso music tracks as a background vocalist attached to the Junior “Ibo” Joseph’s Dancing Dread Studios in San Fernando. For 2012 Carnival, she takes the lead microphone and steps into the spotlight to deliver a strong, authoritative, melodic song in tribute to the hundreds of Trinbago’s Pan Women who all come down “the track" of the “Big Yard” - (Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain), to grace the Panorama Stage with their skill, style, and beauty. Attached to the Kaiso Showcase, Joanne is one to watch in 2012 - and beyond.

Don Clarke

DON CLARKE entered the world of composing music for the steelpan in 2004 with “The Bomb,” vocalised by Edwin Ayoung aka “Crazy.” Celebrated pan arranger, Robert Greenidge arranged it for the then-Solo Pan Knights as their Panorama selection. Don has since composed a number of pieces for the steelpan, including “Pan Mamaguy,” “She Hot For So,” “Delgado” – in tribute to the deceased iconic pan maker Lincoln ‘Delgado’ Noel; “River Lime” and “Can’t Get Enough.” For 2011, Don released Momentum, played by Harmonites Steel Orchestra in Trinidad’s Panorama and London All Stars in the 2011 Notting Hill Panorama.

Don, who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, makes the annual pilgrimage to his homeland. For 2012, he teamed up with lyricist Gregory “GB” Ballantyne for a tribute to Pan Women everywhere, resulting in Pan Woman Jammin’, a hot, and steady, out-of-the-box vibe arranged and engineered by Junior “Ibo” Joseph and vocalised by the talented Joanne Foster. Don is also dedicating this year’s composition to the deceased artistic and musical icon Dr. Pat Bishop.

Gregory 'GB' Ballantyne

GREGORY BALLANTYNE began composing professionally in 1986, when he collaborated with Len “Boogsie” Sharpe to pen “Pan Rising” and “Dis Feeling Nice” sung by Denise Plummer. In the ensuing years he would co-write winning Panorama selections for Desperadoes and PHASE II (again).

In Trinidad, GB’s compositions have won the National Calypso Monarch (Senior and Junior) Young King, International Humour, National Queen, Unattached Monarch, South Calypso King, East Zone Monarch and have placed artistes like Rikki Jai, Devon Seale, The Mystic Prowler, Aaron Duncan, to name a few, into Winners’ Row. His credits also include National and Regional Calypso Monarch titles in Antigua and Anguilla, as well as Chutney hits such as ‘Tassa-Man’ sung by Rooplal Gidharie and the perennial favourite ‘Ribbons’ sung by Marilyn Williams.
