Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Eight steel orchestras representing the East region ‘take it away’ musically speaking, as they vie for a spot in the semi-finals in the medium category of the 2026 Trinidad and Tobago National Panorama. First, they have to make it out of their panyards/communities, the venues for the preliminary rounds of competition.
A panel of judges along with executives from event organizer Pan Trinbago make the panyard of Potential Symphony Steel Orchestra the first stop, with seven more all slated to follow for the evening of Tuesday January 20. Expected start time is 7:00 p.m. AST (Atlantic Standard Time).
Katzenjammers Steel Orchestra from sister isle Tobago, with champion arranger Kersh Ramsey completed a three-peat—three consecutive championships—last year, 2025. But for the 2026 season, that Medium band title is up for grabs. The champion music organization has made the ‘leap’ from one category to the other - medium to large. So that means their former fellow contenders now have a musical tussle among themselves, each eager to become the new champions in this category.

Steel orchestras from four regions—East, South/Central, Tobago and North—are competing in these preliminaries, all aiming to make it first to the National Semi-finals on Saturday February 1, and then further on to their finals one week later on February 8.
