Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - This year, there are two steel orchestras instead of the usual three, competing in the medium category from Tobago, the sister isle. Steel Xplosion Steel Orchestra is first, to be followed by Dixieland Steel Orchestra, on Friday January 23. This is the category’s preliminary round in the 2026 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama.
Katzenjammers Steel Orchestra, usually one of three competing in this category, has moved to the large band arena. And having triumphed as the 2025 Medium Steel Orchestra champion but not defending its win, Katzenjammers’ title and trophy will go to another orchestra (or more than one if there is a tie) at the end of the February 8 final night.
Katzenjammers might have moved on, but its resident arranger is still free to work with another medium band. And so Kersh Ramsey is listed as Steel Xplosion’s arranger.
