Angel Harps Juniors - Another Year, Another Title!
St. George’s, Grenada, W.I. - The junior musical organization that is Angel Harps Juniors powered its way to the top once more this year. The steel orchestra bested equally eager fellow youth musicians from five other bands, at the junior national Panorama competition on Saturday August 3 and, in doing so, continues its musical domination for one more year.
Once more, arrangers Presley Andrew and Chard Lewis were tasked with delivering a champion arrangement to set the Angel Harps juniors on a winning path. And music from soca artist “Ajamu”—Sparrow—was again chosen for competition.
The standings for the best performing three bands remained the same as in 2023, when the junior arms of Commancheros and New Dimension steel orchestras rounded out the top tier.
Performances were part of the overall annual ‘Children Carnival Frolic,’ where the nation’s younger generation spent the day showcasing their talents, while enjoying themselves tremendously. Alongside the SMC (Spicemas Corporation) Junior Panorama, other creative and music-filled categories for participation and competition included: Fancy Mas, Junior King of the Band, Junior Queen of the Band, Traditional Mas band, and the Junior Calypso Monarch.
The Frolic is part of Grenada’s annual Carnival “Spicemas” season. The celebration was again held at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in St. George’s ,and scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Some of these very same junior steelpan musicians will take part in the Senior National Panorama, at the stadium next Saturday, August 10.
