“The Bradley
Years”
 The
Bradley Years represent the definitive collection
of steelband music arrangements and performances
for a large steel orchestra. This collection
showcases seven classic arrangements from the
master arranger Clive Bradley. Bradley
is considered to be the best steelband music
arranger ever by many, including his peers.
In addition, the arrangements are performed
by one of the finest steelbands in the world,
New York’s Pantonic Steel Orchestra. Clive Bradley
had a very special relationship with Pantonic.
This orchestra clinched the title of panorama
champions five times in seven years - performing
Bradley’s musical works. The performances
were captured by Basement Recordings days before,
and in one instance, mere moments before they
took the stage for the prestigious annual steelband
music panorama competition.
The recordings
capture, reproduce and present an unrivalled
clarity with sonic realism, of a large steel
orchestra fielding between one hundred and one
hundred twenty musicians - unlike any other
steelband music recordings in its class.
This body
of musical work is a sterling addition for all
fans, educators, players, historians and fine
music collectors.

Pantheon Steel keeps the
beat with new handpan

- As the founder of Pantheon
Steel, it is only natural that Kyle Cox has
always had a love affair with steel drums. First
as a student and then as a designer, Cox with
his business partner and co-founder, Jim Dusin,
has revolutionized the steel pan industry.
....Instead of continuing to
make the traditional Trinidadian steel pan, Cox
and Dusin made the move in 2007 to begin the
manufacturing of a handheld pan after a company
in Switzerland, Pan Art, began making the
instrument based upon a simple request from a
customer.
....On March 13, 2009,
Pantheon Steel had their first playable Halo
handpan and the company has not looked back.

Steel Orchestra in Rose Bank, North Leeward, has
received 30 new steel pans to replace
instruments destroyed by the December 2013 flash
floods and landslides.
Nichola Evans of
National
Commission on
Crime Prevention
presented the
pans to the pan
side at a
concert in Rose
Bank last
weekend.
The concert was
organised by the
Pan Against
Crime Committee
under the theme
“Play a pan,
arrange a song,
build a mind,
down with
violence and
crime”.
Speaking at the
event,
Commissioner of
Police, Michael
Charles, said
the Pan Against
Crime initiative
has been
successful in
deterring young
persons from
crime.

- An important Pan on the
Green meeting is scheduled for steel band
directors for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at
the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix
campus, in Room T100.
“The
meeting is being called to begin accepting
applications and to share pertinent information
on the Pan on the Green program,” according to
event coordinator and music chairperson Valrica
Bryson at the Elena Christian Jr. High School.
“Steel bands from schools, churches, and other
community organizations throughout the Virgin
Islands are invited to participate in the steel
