2020 Panorama Info Complete
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - For the second time in 2019, in just over nine months, Trinidad and Tobago hosted a national Single Pan band finals competition. And while the defending champions, San Juan East Side Symphony did maintain their standing, they now share the title in this go-round, as there was a tie in the final tally in the scores of 284 points. Marsicans Steel Orchestra are now co-champions in what is, technically, the 2019-2020 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama Single Pan band competition organized by Pan Trinbago.
Arrangers Carlon “Panman” Harewood and Marlon White took their respective bands to the top. And of definite interest, is the fact that these two have been here in this position, “tied,” before! In 2016, both arrangers tied for first place in this same category of Single Pan band. White had led Marsicans to that band’s championship, while Harewood was working with Trinidad East Side Symphony back then. And for him (Harewood), this makes his fifth consecutive championship in this specific category, with three different bands. Definitely of historical note.
Twenty-one finalists in all performed before the judges and audience at the Queen’s Park Savannah in the capital of Port-of-Spain. Damion Phillip, Jeanette Johnson, Kenrick J. Noel, Michelle Dowrich, Corinne Soo Ping Chow and Lennox London were listed as comprising the judging panel.
November 4 had seen the start of Single Pan band performances from the North, East, South/Central and Tobago regions, pertinent to Pan in the twin-island nation. Thirty-one moved on from the preliminaries, while the twenty-one via the semi-finals had made the cut to take the stage at the finals on Saturday November 23.
The show got underway after 6:30 p.m. local time,
wrapping up with results announced just after 1:00 a.m.
