London, England, U.K. - Seven steel orchestras in the UK are on tap to compete in the annual Panorama on August 26. Title defenders Ebony Steelband, scheduled to appear fifth will go toe-to-toe with fellow musicians in competition. Metronomes with three titles to date start the event first in the line-up.
Mangrove Steel Orchestra—one of three bands taking Engine Room to Panorama in the UK—will try for title number twelve when playing in last position. (Engine Room is also popular in the New York Panorama for the following weekend, where six of ten bands have chosen the song).
The much-anticipated annual UK steelband event is organized by BAS/NHC (British Association of Steelbands/Notting Hill Carnival). Pan lovers will trek to Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park, Kensal Road, W10, in support of their favorite steel orchestras and overall for the love of pan, unfolding from 4:00 p.m.
