Finals Order of Appearance for LARGE Steel Orchestras - Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama 2019

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Desperadoes Steel Orchestra is playing first in front the judges and pan lovers for the finals in the 2019 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama competition.  Defending its title, Renegades will be the third band to take the stage. Playing positions were drawn on February 21.

The ten finalists in the large band category will follow their “medium” counterparts on stage in what will be, as always, a battle for musical supremacy.  Exodus Steel Orchestra, working with arranger Pelham Goddard, is performing in position seven with a change in song - from ‘Rag Storm’ played in the preliminary and semi-final phases - to Kes the Band’s Savannah Grass. Additionally the music organization Exodus is moving ahead with this decision while its lawyers are currently challenging in court Pan Trinbago’s decision to disallow the tune change, despite other bands having done exactly that in previous years of the Panorama competition.

[UPDATE - Court ruled in Exodus’ favour]

The finals are coming up Saturday March 2 at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, the capital of Trinidad & Tobago. And in an interesting visual, the six bands that are from the Northern, are all playing back-to-back in first six places. The remaining four finalists, two each from the Eastern and South/Central regions, play in the seventh through tenth spots. No Tobago region large steel orchestra made it to the finals this year.
