Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - More steel orchestras in the small conventional category will grace the ‘stage’—that being their respective panyards—in the presence of judges, as they vie for a spot in the January 18 semi-finals coming off at Victoria Square in Port-of-Spain. This is the third set of competitors in this grouping of bands in the 2025 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama.
Bands from the North and Eastern regions would have preceded their South-Central counterparts, with those from sister isle Tobago rounding out the preliminaries after the South-Central zoning. Performances are spread over three dates once more for the participating bands.
On Thursday January 9 Panosonic Connection is scheduled to get things underway at 7:00 p.m. Swavic Steel Orchestra, Fusion Steel, Motown Pan Theatre, Kalomo Kings and Silver Harps are also advertised as being on the performance card. Expect to hear from Southern Stars Steel Orchestra, Old Tech Steel Orchestra, Golden Hands, Southern Marines Steelband Foundation, Longdenville Claytones and Todd’s Road Rhythem Raiders the following evening, Friday January 10. With an earlier start time of 2:00 p.m. and closing out the preliminary segment on Saturday January 11 in this region, are Panhandle and Cadenza steel orchestras, respectively.
The semi-finals phase is the initial target of all preliminary participants, while the bulls eye is on final night competition come January 25. The coveted prize is the championship, which would mean dethroning reigning champion New East Side Dimension Steel Orchestra from sister isle Tobago.
