Results - Small Conventional Steel Orchestra Finals - Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama 2024 -- New East Side Dimension and Arranger Kersh Ramsey Keep Championship in Tobago
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - The long hours of practice put into the 2024 season by New East Side Dimension Steel Orchestra paid off big time, in the form of the top prize of TT $400,000.00 (circa USD $59,000.00), the championship trophy, and bragging rights for a full year until 2025. The band has claimed the first title up for the taking in the conventional steel orchestra component of 2024 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama which features Small, Medium and Large categories.
Arranger Kersh Ramsey delivered with his band and maintained the highest score in the previous rounds of competition. This achievement mirrors that of his Silver Stars co-arranger Ojay Richards (who with title defenders Uptown Fascinators was dethroned); Ramsey now has a championship of his own as arranger. But - Tobago still rules the roost in this category, as that championship stays put in the sister isle.
Small steel orchestras from the four regions: Tobago, North, East and South/Central were judged in respective panyards and communities from December 7—17. Results from that preliminary phase, then those of the semi-finals paved the musical path which led to this January 12 final night showdown in South Trinidad at Skinner Park in San Fernando.
Organized annually by Pan Trinbago, the competition this year featured an online viewing option on final night for international audiences, reportedly facilitated by WACK TV via Pay-Per-View.
Following are the results of the 2024 Finals competition for Small conventional steel orchestras. These were posted informally on Facebook after 1:00 a.m. local time.
