Loving the thing like ah true fan
You never going to hear meh say I eh

When you see they start to play I

Chorus
So when ah

Seconds and guitars pe loom poom
Coming down playing pe loom poom

Verse 2
Carnival and

Nothing in de world does sound

When you see the two come together
I am the

Born out of love and the music
For ever and ever ah cah fake
When you see

Half an hour later inside another

That is the way ah move ah cah stick

When ah hear the pan play
I go be jumping - whole day

Ramon “Jose Juan” Diaz
Ramon “Jose Juan” Diaz, a soca artist residing in the United States, originally hails from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
He is a member of the U.S.-based Dynamite Calypso Tent and has competed for many years, both in St. Vincent and the U.S.A., in various calypso competition shows. During one such competition in summer 2018, he came in 2nd runner-up for his hot catchy soca song “Light It Up.”
Jose has recorded numerous other soca/calypso composition hits, including “Just Like That,” “Rollin,” “Kaiso Man” and “Round De Clock.”
Light It Up is storytelling at its best, wrapped up in perfectly blended mix of horns, guitars and steel pan melody.
The song paints the very vivid picture of the joy and rapturous feeling you get when you experience Panorama. It feels and is mind-blowing, and the artist musically and vocally conveys that feeling to the listener when he sings/growls the lyric, “let it burn.”
Jose Juan has recorded songs over the years written by Miguel Reyes, so this is not their first collaboration. The duo comes together here with Light It Up.
Composer and panist Miguel Reyes, who shares the same hometown with the late Aldwyn Roberts aka Lord Kitchener is from Arima in east Trinidad.
Recognition came Miguel’s way in 2009 with his acclaimed ‘pan tune’ Bandoleros, vocalized by “Tunapuna Scanty.” It took Sforzata Steel Orchestra in Trinidad & Tobago’s medium band category to winner’s row.
International acclaim via New York was just a few months away when two veteran and world-renowned steel orchestras - Despers USA, and eventual Panorama champion Sonatas with arranger Yohan Popwell - also opted for Bandoleros as their Panorama tune of choice.
Currently residing in New York, Miguel originally released his first full CD called “Panorama Fest 2010.” His original content included such pieces as Pan Injustice and De Last Band.
A competent musician, Miguel Reyes has put out other pieces such as Pan Is Meh Life, In Meh Band, Mr. Pan, Donna, (Rebecca Daughter), Blazing, All Ah Dem, and Mash Up. He is back once more with Light It Up the track featured here.
