Results - Medium Conventional Steel Orchestra Semi-Finals - Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama 2023

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Pan Elders Steel Orchestra was roaring out of the musical gates when they opened up at 1:16 p.m. on stage at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain on the sunny Sunday afternoon of February 5. It was the semi-finals of the 2023 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama, and the band got the much-vaunted ‘Savannah Party,’ started with a bang from position one.  Arranger Terrance “BJ” Marcelle was determined to lay it out for those following to play catch-up - and he had a band that is used to winning - Pan Elders has six medium category championships, five of those consecutive.

Bands moved along at a good clip one after the other; several, such as Curepe Scherzando, Dixieland and Katzenjammers garnered great crowd response after performing. Couva Joylanders Steel Orchestra made it clear when playing in the eleventh spot, that as the defending champion, they fully intend to remain on top.

By 5:55 p.m. when penultimate band Power Stars Steel Orchestra took the stage, the North Stand at the savannah was practically at capacity - and the large band semi-final segment was yet to start. The fifteenth and final band Pamberi closed off the medium band category at 6:22 p.m.

Event organizer Pan Trinbago posted the official results for both categories in the semi-finals, medium and large, after the end of the competition. A panel of six - Dr. Mia Gormandy, Ezra Joseph, Martin Albino, Roger Sardinha, Bernadette Roberts and Damion Phillip - judged the proceedings. Bands placing one through twelve move forward. Tobago-based Katzenjammers, Couva Joylanders and Sforzata are now in the lead heading into the finals slated for Sunday February 12 in the sister isle of Tobago.
