Results - Large Conventional Steel Orchestra Preliminaries - Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama 2024

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - All sixteen large steel orchestras which delivered preliminary round performances in their respective pan yards, will perform in the semi-finals of the 2024 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama. Last year, fourteen out of seventeen advanced. From Saturday January 20—Tuesday January 23, this year’s participants in the large category delighted their supporters and pan music lovers in general with their music selections for the season. A panel of judges was present at each venue, and eventually delivered results which, going into the semi-finals on January 28, show Exodus Steel Orchestra hailing from the East, leading the way with 278 points.

Both from the North region - the defending champions, Renegades Steel Orchestra - and Trinidad All Stars - are presently tied in second position, while the South/Central region currently has a lock on fourth place, also with a tie between two representative bands - Skiffle and Fonclaire steel orchestras. And Tobago is in the mix, with Buccooneers and Redemption Sound Setters steel orchestras.

With the phenomenon of ‘ties’ featuring prominently in the preliminary results (five sets within the sixteen bands), the ‘playing’ field will be more even at Sunday’s upcoming Semi-finals aka ‘Savannah Party.’ All orchestras will perform on the same stage at Carnival City, QPS (Queen’s Park Savannah) in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Organized by Pan Trinbago, the competitive show featuring steel orchestras competing in both medium and large categories, is expected to be underway by 1:00 p.m. AST (Atlantic Standard Time). Fourteen medium steel orchestras will compete first.
