Results - Large Conventional Steel Orchestra Preliminaries - Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama 2023
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Fourteen out of seventeen large steel orchestras have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2023 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama. The results were made public by event organizer Pan Trinbago on Thursday February 2. Eleven-time champion Renegades Steel Orchestra gained the highest score coming out of the preliminary round.
Bands performed in their respective panyards over four consecutive nights. Two bands from sister isle Tobago started off on January 29, followed by the South/Central and North regions, with the East bands appearing on February 1.
Fans of the defending champion steel orchestra Desperadoes will be hoping their band can make up much ground, having placed almost last in this first round. A tie in twelfth place shows the band just made it ‘out of the yard.’ They play in second position at the “Savannah Party,” a cultural reference to the semi-finals competition on Sunday February 5 at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain. Fonclaire Steel Orchestra
is first up on stage in this category. While the start time for the overall competition is 1:00 p.m. AST (Atlantic Standard Time), the fifteen semi-finalists in the medium category precede these fourteen steel orchestras in the large division.
