Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Twelve conventional steel orchestras are sparring musically in the finals for Pan in the 21st Century on June 11. The event is the second segment in the musical showcase coming off at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain and follows the Pan Down Memory Lane competition immediately preceding.
The bands’ playing positions were determined at the draw facilitated by event organizer Pan Trinbago on June 7. Out of thirty-three steel orchestras which went through preliminary “pan yard” judging in their respective communities, these twelve reached the final round.
Pan Elders led musically by arranger Richard Gittens and performing Leave the Door Open is first up.
