2025 Metro Steel Orchestra worked with arranger Vanessa
Headley-Brewster in a New York-Panorama history-making move in a
first for the annual event. She is the first woman
arranging for the New York steelband music competition.
The arrangement was indeed unlike any other of the New York
arrangements/arrangers. Touching on vibrant interlocking themes,
the melody is never lost at any point in the song.

belt - PanAlley Steel Orchestra’s first Panorama was a perfect
match between many proven and tested steelpan musicians, and a very
competent and thought-provoking arranger, Marc Brooks. This
working relationship is a template when parties involved appear
to be on the same page musically, and professionally.

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. -
Steelpan players in the south/central region of Pan Trinbago
have been left fuming after state company National Gas Company
(NGC) on September 11 withdrew its sponsorship from three
steelbands –
Couva Joylanders,
La Brea Nightingales and
Steel X Plosion of Tobago – and pulled support for
Pan Trinbago.
----Commenting on the withdrawal of the state-owned company’s
sponsorships, effective September 11, Pan Trinbago president
Beverley Ramsey-Moore said this was a devastating blow to the
fraternity.
....Last month, NGC reported $1.6 billion in profits in its
financial year ending December 31, 2024. Attorney Gerald Ramdeen
is NGC’s chairman.

Grenadian steelpan icon Mykal “Blaize” Robertson found dead at home
Michael aka “Mykal” Blaize Robertson
Grenada, W.I. - A wave of
grief and shock grips Grenada and world music fans at large as
reports of the death of
Michael aka “Mykal” Blaize Robertson, the leader of pan
wizards from River road surface throughout the internet.
Robertson was reportedly found dead on Sunday September 7 in his
home.
The sudden passing of Robertson has left the community in shock
with many pouring out their condolences to his family and
friends as the reason for the artist's death still remains
unknown.
....[Peter] David [the Member of Parliament for the Town of St.
George] continued to recount of the last time he saw Blaize’s
performance that was just weeks ago in August. As the country
watched Blaize lead
Pan Wizards
with pride and brilliance on stage at
Panorama. And as always, Blaize gave his all. As his passion
was infectious, while his presence and genius were
unforgettable.

Facebook got it wrong - Meta World and WST & SteelPan Are Friends Again
Facebook “Likes” sends PanOnTheNet Apology - “We got it
wrong”
Metaverse - Facebook got it wrong. About
three years ago without warning or reason all WST (When Steel Talks) steelpan-related
accounts fell out of favor with the social media giant Facebook now known as
Meta and its aligned consortiums (Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp). Because
WST has all of our material hosted on our own shared servers, this ‘tag’ was
not incurable or as problematic as it could have been. However, it was annoying
to have people seeking critical steelpan music info diverted by Facebook AI
(artificial intelligence).

Global - On Tuesday July 26, 2022 the
steelpan instrument of Trinidad and Tobago is featured and celebrated on the
site of technology giant “Google” via the famed Google ‘Doodle.’ The ‘Doodle’
is essentially an illustrative change made to the Google corporate logo “to
celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers,
and scientists” - and more. The doodle is then seen by users all around the
world who access Google’s homepage on that day, and is available thereafter
in the doodle archives.
....Trinidad and Tobago-based artist Nicholas Huggins is the creator of the
illustrative artwork featured in the doodle, while
Etienne Charles is the composer of the accompanying music performed by the
legendary steelpan icon
Len “Boogsie” Sharpe.
